Music Ministry
“God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song. God dwells within each human person, in the place where music takes its source. Indeed, God, the giver of song, is present whenever his people sing his praises.”
-Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship
Music is an important part of Catholic worship. Our music ministry, a dedicated group of children and adults, singers and instrumentalists, is responsible for leading the congregation in prayerful song each weekend. We encourage individuals of all ages with and without prior musical experience to sing in the choir. Professional musicians and those who simply enjoy singing are encouraged to join the music ministry to share their talents and love of music with their parish. Instrumentalists are also encouraged to share their talents with us by joining the music ministry and making our music even more beautiful and diverse. Please see Allison Murphy for more information.
Cantors
We are fortunate to have cantors who lead the congregation in song during weekend and Holy Day Masses. Cantoring at Mass is an important aspect of Catholic worship as the cantor leads the congregation is sung prayer. Being a cantor is a rewarding experience that carries great responsibility. We are always in need of cantors. It is encouraged for the cantors to be active members of the choir. Oppportunity is also available for them to attend the cantor workshop hosted by the Diocese to help them know more about cantoring.
